I am a TV writer, author and comics artist, with over ten years' experience working in children's media and animation. Thanks for visiting my site.
I have written almost 200 episodes for several multi-award-winning TV shows, and am currently on the writing team for 'Peppa Pig', (Nick Jr.), where I pitch and develop episode ideas, and write scripts. Other writing credits include episodes of Sarah and Duck, Dipdap, Olobob Top, Tish Tash and Morph.
I enjoy working with companies to develop their ideas and have produced show bibles and pilot scripts for Ragdoll Productions, Karrot and Komixx. At Ragdoll I co-created 'The Adventures of Abney and Teal' (CBeebies) with Joel Stewart and Steve Roberts, and was the head writer.
Books and Illustration
I am an author of picture books for children and comics for adults, published by Walker, Penguin, Cicada and Ivy Press. My comic strips have featured in the Guardian, Vice, Glamour and Art Review magazines.
My first book, 'Probably Nothing' (Penguin, 2014), is a graphic memoir, or diary in the form of a comic, about being diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy. I'm fine now and so is my son.
I’m always interested to hear about new offers of work. Contact my agents, Emily Wraith at Berlin Associates (for TV) or Becky Thomas at Johnson and Alcock (for books). Or find me on Twitter, @MatildaTris
“Matilda has provided the majority of plot-lines for our writing, as well as much of the narration and many, many general ideas and lots of editorial work throughout the whole process. Her ideas have been consistently funny, original, surprising, and downright numerous and I basically can't recommend her highly enough!” Joel Stewart, creator and director of The Adventures of Abney and Teal
